The brief
From a real problem to a working product.
King Of The Sea is Golden Sea Studios' flagship original game — built entirely in-house, including the concept, narrative, art direction, and all development. We own the IP.
The premise: players build and command naval fleets in a persistent world, capturing territory, managing resources, and engaging in real-time sea battles against other players globally. The strategy layer is deeper than typical mobile games — fleet composition, positioning, and timing all matter.
The art direction is painterly and detailed, a deliberate contrast to the flat styles dominating mobile. Every ship, environment, and UI element was illustrated or modeled in-house. The result is a game that looks handcrafted rather than asset-flipped.
Server architecture uses Photon Quantum for deterministic multiplayer — no desync issues in competitive battles. Firebase handles player profiles, leaderboards, and push notifications. The game launched globally and built a loyal community that continues to grow through regular content updates.
